Essential Duties and Responsibilities

​

• Maintain updated knowledge of health plan benefits, eligibility, and claims processing. 

• Greet and assist members in person and over the phone with professionalism and empathy.

• Help members understand and complete necessary forms related to their coverage and benefits

• Responds to customer inquiries regarding insurance coverage and explain the schedule of benefits.

• Accurately document customer interactions and inquiries in the call tracking system.

• Address provider inquiries regarding member eligibility and claims status.

• Collaborate with internal departments to resolve member and provider discrepancies.

• Assist with coordinating off-island appointments and referrals when necessary.

• Provide daily activity reports to the Customer Service Manager. 

• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

​​

• High school diploma or GED equivalent

• Prior work experience in customer service preferred.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Excellent telephone etiquette skills

• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

• Efficient operations of basic office equipment (computer, phone, fax, copier)

• Ability to multitask effectively

• Organized and motivated with a positive attitude

• Embrace challenges and resolve issues professionally

• Dependable, adaptable and collaborative team player
