Commercial Underwriting Quality Analyst

Job Overview
Under the direct supervision of the Vice President/Chief Operating Officer/Director of Operations and in accordance with existing procedures and systems, this position is responsible for processing and analyzing commercial business policies and endorsements. The role involves reviewing underwriting data to form coverage and pricing recommendations in accordance with internal underwriting guidelines and risk appetite. The position is also primarily responsible for ensuring adherence to internal standards and all applicable regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Ensuring policies and client files are in proper compliance with CIU, AIG and respective regulatory requirements

Knowledge of advanced aspects of personal and commercial lines underwriting

Assisting brokers, agents and commercial clients with insurance inquiries and providing quotations as appropriate

Communicating with brokers and/or agents and/or carriers

Conducting renewal reviews of policies to update account information and identifying new or increased exposures

Determining rates and premium for all lines of insurance with exception of those requiring executive management or carrier referral

Processing commercial policies (new and renewal), when appropriate

Completing all compliance forms required by Insurance Company to evaluate risk for new and renewing clients

Educating customers and subordinate team members on product features, benefits and cost savings

Issuing certificates and binders such as Automobile Insurance Certificates and Certificates of
Insurance

Scheduling survey of risks with company appraisers and accompanying them if necessary

Performing standard and usual clerical duties such as faxing, filing, typing documents

Assisting in collection of accounts, when necessitated

Perform other related duties as assigned
Position Requirements

High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) is required
-
Minimum of 10 years of work experience in insurance or a related role preferred
-
Minimum of 7 years of experience handling complex commercial insurance programs, including primary, excess and reinsurance structures preferred

Minimum of 7 years of experience working with complex insurance claims or closely collaborating with adjusters preferred
-
CPCU (Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter) designation preferred
